You've Got to Keep 'Em Medicated... Wait...

Now that we have our introductions out of the way, let's get into it!

I was diagnosed with Bipolar II Disorder in my early thirties (and I'm not telling you how long ago that was). One day I was experiencing, what I now call, an "upswing" and someone called me out on it. I had always had a degree of depression and anxiety and been treated for it on and off, but that was a long time ago. I guess it kind of shocked me to realize other people were noticing my moods. I called a psychiatrist soon after.

She asked me tons of questions, I described what I had been experiencing (like, my whole life AND more recently), and there you have it. It's one of the few times in my life a professional really listened to me and actually helped. Our next step together was to figure out medications. It took a lot of trial and error (and weight gain) to find the mix that worked best for me. I ended up with one pill specifically for Bipolar Disorder, one to boost against the depression, and two for generalized/social anxiety (my daily grand total was up to 8 at this point - don't forget I'm ALSO chronically ill).

Anyway, then I had to find a therapist... We'll talk about that next time, though. 👻
